Los Lunas History
The village was named after the Luna family, who were the original settlers in this area. Originally granted to Don Felix Candelaria in 1716, the Luna family gained possession of the land in 1718. It became the county seat of Valencia County in 1876 and was officially incorporated as a village in 1928.
