Hope Mills History
Hope Mills was settled in the late 1760s. By 1766, the town has a saw mill, lumber camp, grist mill, and pottery business. The area's first cotton mill was constructed in 1839. In fact, the town was named after the cotton milling industry. The town was originally known as Little Rockfish Village. Later on, the name was changed to Hope Mills Number One. The town was incorporated in 1891.
