Wahpeton History
The community was founded in 1869. It was first settled by Morgan T. Rich. With the arrival of other settlers, the community was named 'Richville.' In the year 1871, the name of the town was changed to 'Chahinkapa.' In 1873, the town was renamed 'Wahpetonm.'
