Goose Creek History
Goose Creek was established in 1961. Some opine that the city derived its name from the gooseneck turns of the creek. Others believe it was named because of the prominence of geese in the creek. The area was originally inhabited by the Etiwan and Sewee Indians. The first European settlers arrived in the early 1670s. City of Goose Creek was incorporated on March 22, 1961. Hilton W. Bunch became the first mayor of the city.
