Paris is the county seat of Henry County. The county was named after the famed Virginia orator, Patrick Henry. It has been home to several notable people, including U.S. Supreme Court Justice Howell Edmunds Jackson, Cherry Jones, an award winning actress, country music artist Hank Williams Jr, and former Tennessee governor James D. Porter Jr.
