Alvin, Texas, in Brazoria county, is 18 miles S of Pasadena, Texas and 24 miles S of Houston, Texas. The people of the city are in the Brazoria metropolitan area.
Alvin History
The area now known as Alvin was first settled in the mid 1800s. At this time, bull ranches were set up in the region. With the construction of the Santa Fe Railroad, settlements were established around it. The town was incorporated in the year 1893. During World War II, German POWs were held near this community. Alvin is the oldest incorporated communities in Brazoria county.
