Clearfield, Utah, in Davis county, is 4 miles NW of Layton, Utah and 380 miles NE of Las Vegas, Nevada. The people of the city are in the Salt Lake City-Ogden metropolitan area. Clearfield has a population of 25,974.
Clearfield History
Clearfield was one of the last communities to be settled in the northern part of Davis County. It was once named Sandridge. Richard and Emily Hamblin settled in the area now known as Clearfield in 1877. The Utah Central Railroad first entered the area in 1869. The city gained a separate ward on November 3rd, 1907. In the 1940s, Clearfield developed rapidly due to the foundation of the Hill Air Force Base.
