Midvale History
Midvale was initially known as East Jordan Ward. It held historical significance as far as the southern Slavic settlement in Utah was concerned. The American Smelting and Refining Company attracted many Slavs to Midvale. With changes in industrial life a number of social and fraternal organizations sprung up in Midvale. The name of the community later changed to Midvale as it was a centrally located and was a thriving community.
