Bethany Lutheran College

Bethany Lutheran College, BLC, was founded in 1927. It is located on a 50-acre campus near Minnesota River valley in Mankato, Minnesota and is operated by the Evangelical Lutheran Synod. The college began as Bethany Ladies College in 1911. In 1927, its campus was purchased by the Evangelical Lutheran Synod (then known as the Norwegian Synod) to function both as a high school and junior college (Bethany Lutheran College).

The athletic teams of BLC, which are known as the Vikings, compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference in Division III of NCAA and participate in sports like baseball, golf, softball, men's and women's tennis and volleyball. Marvin Schwan (founder of the Schwan Food Company) is a notable alumni of BLC.
