Briar Cliff University, BCU, is a private university in Sioux City, Iowa that was established in 1930 by the Sisters of Saint Francis of Dubuque. Certificates, associate's, bachelor's, and master's degrees are offered at the university. Study areas include human resource management, nursing, education, humanities, science, business, music, and social work.
BCU participates in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and is a member of Great Plains Athletic Conference. Students participate in sports like basketball, baseball, cross country, golf, soccer, and indoor and outdoor track and field events. The athletics teams are nicked the Chargers. Students can also choose from over forty student organizations including the BCU Nursing Student Association, the Criminal Justice Club, the English and Writing Club, Mentors in Violence Prevention, and the Theatre Club.
