Essex County College

Established in 1966, Essex County College, an accredited public community college, is situated in Essex. The main campus of the university is located in Newark, and admits students from more than 40 countries. The college offers associate degree programs in arts, science and applied science, and enrolls more than 25,000 students each year. The university also offers various other certificate programs.

Essex County College athletic teams are known by the name Wolverines. They participate in men's and women's cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field and soccer. The college alumni consists of eminent personalities like Ajita Abraham, Joao Acabou, Glenn Allen, and Maritza Almonte.
