Illinois Valley Community College

Illinois Valley Community College, also referred to as IVCC, is located near the Illinois River, Oglesby. The college was established in 1924 and was originally known as LaSalle-Peru-Oglesby (LPO) Junior College. The students of IVCC are offered associate degree and certificate programs through various academic divisions including:

  • Career and Technical Programs
  • English, Mathematics and Education
  • Health Professions Division
  • Humanities, Fine Arts and Social Sciences
  • Natural Sciences and Business

The athletic teams in the college are known as the Eagles. The male students take part in sports including basketball, tennis and baseball, while the female students are involved in sports which include volleyball, tennis, softball and basketball. The notable alumni of the college includes Dr. Robert Spetzler, world famous Arizona neurosurgeon; Ralph Bowermaster, talented singer in many college musicals; and Don Baker, Peru Mayor since 1965.
