Long Island University - Brooklyn Campus was established in the year 1926. The campus is located at the intersection of Flatbush and De Kalb avenues. It offers various degrees and programs in diverse fields of study. LIU's Arnold and Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences is one of the largest and oldest pharmacy schools in the U.S.

The campus is home to the prestigious George Polk Awards in journalism. The sports team of LIU Brooklyn Campus are nicknamed the Blackbirds. Their basketball team won the National Invitation Tournament in 1939 and 1941.
