Nassau Community College was established in the year 1960. It is a 2-year co-educational public community college offering enrollment to over 20,000 undergraduates. NCC has associates degrees and certificate programs in humanities, social sciences, mathematics, and laboratory sciences.

The athletics teams of Nassau Community College are called the Lions, and the official colors are blue and orange. There are teams for wrestling, track and field, and baseball at NCC.

The alumni of this college boasts of names like actors Eddie Murphy and Steve Buscemi, musicians Mark O'Connell, Mims, and Elliott Murphy, professional wrestler Brimstone, and United States men's national soccer team coach Bruce Arena.
