Northwestern Michigan College was founded in 1951. This community college in Traverse City, Michigan, offers enrollment to more than 4,000 students every year. Apart from its main campus, NMC also holds classes in a branch campus in Cherry Capital Airport.

Northwestern Michigan College offers associates degrees in arts, science, applied science and nursing. Students can also opt for transfers to 4-year colleges. In addition, NMC is one of the few community colleges to offer an aviation program. The academic departments of this college are:
