Pennsylvania State University-New Kensington was established in 1958. Its campus is spread across 72 acres of land in New Kensington, Pennsylvania.

Penn State-New Kensington offers associate's, bachelor's, and master's degree programs. Students can choose from over 160 majors in the fields of business administration, sciences, nursing, applied psychology, information sciences and technology, organizational leadership, and teacher education. Several continuing education courses and international programs are also available.

The athletics department of Penn State-New Kensington sponsors intercollegiate basketball, golf, soccer, softball, wrestling, and volleyball teams, which compete in the United State Collegiate Athletic Association, and the Penn State University Athletic Conference.
