Southern University at New Orleans, SUNO, is located in New Orleans, Louisiana. SUNO was founded in 1956 and started operations in 1959. The university is a member of the Southern University System which is the world's solitary Historically Black College or University system. SUNO operates through a number of colleges which grant degrees to students. These colleges are:

  • College of Arts and Sciences
  • College of Business and Public Administration
  • College of Education
  • College of Social Work
  • School of Graduate Studies

Southern University at New Orleans is a member of National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and also participates in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference. Students participate in sports like basketball, and track and field and the athletics teams are nicknamed Knights and Lady Knights.
