The Springfield College in Illinois (SCI) was established in 1929 as Springfield Junior College by the Ursuline Sisters. The institute has been serving the community for 80 years and is the oldest institution for higher education in liberal arts in Springfield. In 2003, the college partnered with the Benedictine University, an institution in west suburban Chicago.
Springfield College in Illinois, which occupies a 25 acre campus in Springfield, provides associate's and bachelor's degrees. The institute also offers federal financial aid programs and provides scholarships like the President's scholarship, the Trustee's scholarship and the Catholic High School scholarship. Some of the student organizations include Alpha Sigma Lambda, Build a Better World Club and Young Adults for Political Awareness.
