Founded in 1975 in Largo, Florida, Sunstate Academy is a Redken Premier School providing students with training in cosmetology. Today, Sunstate Academy has two locations in Florida -- Clearwater and Ft. Meyers. Areas of study include cosmetology, massage therapy, spa therapies, barber/cosmetology combo, nail technician and full specialty. The curriculum is career-focused, allowing students to study only the information they need to become working professionals. Students receive hands-on training through the school's working salon, Salon Solaris. Sunstate Academy is owned by Compass Rose Foundation, Inc.

Sunstate Academy is nationally accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges.

Sunstate Academy is a Redken Premier School whose instructors have received Redken professional training in addition to their own salon experiences. Faculty members instruct students in cosmetology techniques, building and maintaining a client base, and evaluating the needs and wants of customers. Instruction is career-focused, allowing students to gain the relevant knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the job market.

Student Life

Sunstate Academy is a commuter school and does not provide access to student housing. Class schedules are extremely flexible. The school offers classes during the day three times per week. In addition, night and weekend classes are available. Students have the opportunity to get real-world experience through hands-on training at the schools' salons, Solaris Salon. Sunstate Academy offers a Career Services department for assistance with job placement after graduation. Financial aid is also available to those who qualify. Sunstate also offers classes taught entirely in Spanish. In addition, students may take advantage of Southwest Florida's beautiful beaches, attractions and nightlife.
