Wilmington College was established in the year 1968. It was officially renamed Wilmington University on September 10, 2007, after approval by the Board of Trustees and the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Wilmington University is a private educational institution of higher learning. Its main campus is located in New Castle near Wilmington, Delaware. It offers a wide variety of degrees and programs in diverse areas of study. The university is organized into the following academic divisions:

The sports teams of Wilmington University are nicknamed the Wildcats. They compete in the NCAA Division II level sports.
